Contains detailed portions of Hughes's memoir and an oral interview in which he discusses various experiences in North Africa and Corsica. Mentions wild life and weather conditions near Dakar, his flight to and from an LDS Servicemen's Conference, his comrades and pranks they played. Also discusses his duties at Oran (N. Africa) of receiving coded messages and his mistake which led to the invasion of Sicily being postponed. Discusses Christmas celebrations and interaction with the French-African people. Also refers to his voyage home, the end of the war, meeting and marrying his wife.
